Kamp PHUN (Peace, Hope, Unity, Now) is a ministry in the Episcopal Diocese of Georgia. This is a fun kamp which sees to provide a typical kamp experience in a safe, loving, aware and accepting setting for the children of current or former incarcerated persons. These at-risk children have a 1 in 10 chance of being incarcerated before reaching age of 18 and they have one of the highest suicide rates.
The kamp is open at no cost to children ages 9-11 for a week. The activities for Kamp PHUN are in many ways no different from other summer kamps. However, the staff will conduct the kamp with special awareness of the emotional needs of these at-risk children in an attempt to help them “break the cycle”.
Kamp PHUN is conducted with a Vacation Bible School approach which includes a daily bible class, crafts and a clown ministry workshop for teamwork. We will have a week of swimming, crafts, hiking, watermelon parties, kamp fire singing, movie night and “lots” of LOVE and hugs.
